Episode 252 – Biden Balancing Authoritarian AND Economically Illiterate

Joe Biden tweets the dumbest possible tweet proving he is both economically illiterate and a weak authoritarian! Plus a Los Angeles Police Officer is being sued for wrongful death of another LA Police officer, and the way it happened is insane.

2:53
mushroom coffee replacement cacao rapid fire segment brought to you by mud water
2:59
which has yes 1 7 of the caffeine of a cup of coffee well i finally said that correctly you
3:05
did i think for the first time i’ve ever done this i actually said the phrase one-seventh
3:11
of the caffeine of a cup of coffee twice now without stripping because
3:17
because i drink mud water and that’s why and i know what you’re thinking is it good no it is not it is not good it’s
3:24
good for you it has mushrooms turmeric sea salt cinnamon the
3:30
masala chai and literally nothing else that’s it that’s all that’s in it and
3:35
you’re going to think yum but now you’re actually you’re not going to think yum if you put enough coffee enough
3:41
honey in anything you’ll say yum but if you don’t what you’ll say is hmm i hope this is good for me well it is
3:48
it’s really good for you it’s got neuroprotective factors but it also uh has just enough caffeine to get you
3:55
ready to go and ready to face the day but not so much caffeine that it hurts your health later in life it makes you
4:01
think i wish i hadn’t drank all that coffee i wish i drank mud water well you can do
4:06
that by going to the muddy muddywaters of freedom.com mud
4:13
yes it’s so if i like because you you are correct it does not taste good at all
4:20
and this is coming from a person who drinks literal mud every yeah
4:26
this tastes worse than kava but it’s really good for you it does
4:32
it’s like it is really yeah it is really good for you um so just put some put some honey in it
4:38
honey it’s nice it’s good for you too get some nice local honey it’ll help with
4:44
allergies local organic honey help with your allergies you feel better
4:50
it’s good for you yeah so we hope everybody out there had a fandamtastic 4th of july weekend um and
4:59
by that we mean we hope you weren’t on one of the 28.8 of flights that were
5:04
canceled and or delayed this holy crap
5:14
30 a third of the flights were canceled or delayed or delayed
5:21
uh but not to worry transportation secretary pete boudij is
5:27
here to alleviate your worry when it comes to traveling in the future
5:35
he tweeted uh this totally this is what the totally successful and not at
5:42
all failure of a mayor or presidential candidate pete butterjudge has to say
5:47
sometimes an airline will offer you points or miles as compensation but you are entitled to a cash refund when your
5:54
flight is canceled when deciding whether to accept miles it is helpful to know their value which
6:00
varies but often is estimated at one to one and a half cents per mile
6:06
for example my connecting flight got canceled last night at first the airline
6:12
offered 2500 miles which i estimate is worth about 30 bucks but i claim the refund
6:20
for the cancelled portion instead and it worked out to be a hundred and twelve oh seven
6:26
so what we learned about pete boudages is he is willing not to see his family
6:31
or friends for a hundred and twelve dollars
6:38
on a holiday weekend on a holiday weekend a hundred and twelve dollars is what it costs to buy pete buddhish away
6:46
from his face that’s his friend everyone has a price
6:51
the transportation secretary of the united states of america’s price is a hundred and twelve dollars and seven
6:57
seven cents exactly possibly less but he may have gone less we know that that’s what they offered and he went okay
7:04
oh my gosh that’s like the uh that’s like the uh the joke uh the guy walks up
7:10
to a woman and says uh how much uh to spend the night with you and she goes oh
7:16
how dare you ask me something like that and he goes i’ll give you a million dollars and she
7:21
says okay fine and he goes okay how about a hundred and she goes oh i would never do
7:27
that how dare you and he said no we’ve already established that you have a price now we’re just negotiating for
7:32
pete butterjej if he said a hundred uh pete would say how about 112 and seven cents
7:39
[Laughter] specifically
7:45
it says seven cents that that’s what puts it over the edge it’s that seven more than 112
7:50
i am and it sounds like a lot more right like 112 and seven cents there’s like
7:56
five additional uh syllables here right it’s like the opposite like when they
8:03
offered it to him they did the opposite of like what gas stations do where they’re like three well today it’s 4.86
8:13
cents point nine ninety nine yeah yeah yeah point and nine tenths and uh people
8:18
like in nine tenths yeah it’s they do the opposite right they but airlines are like we’re gonna go you know
8:24
a couple cents higher and they’re gonna they’ll take it and pete l for it
8:30
like so many other things um yes speaking of uh falling for it the man
8:36
that 81 million people voted for uh sent
8:42
probably the dumbest tweet ever possibly possibly in an effort to sound
8:49
as authoritarian and economically illiterate as possible
8:55
he said my message to the companies running gas stations and setting prices at the pump
9:02
is simple this is a time of war and global peril
9:07
bring down the price you are charging at the pump to reflect the cost you’re paying for product and do it now
9:17
the gas station this that was his tweet okay that was him saying i know how to
9:24
handle this and they’re like mr president biden please no that’s not how it works that was a
9:30
supply chain and there it’s a bottleneck at the refund nope nope it’s the gas station
9:36
that was okay i’m saying that was not his tweet okay and my reasoning for that
9:44
is i wish we had this video when he came up with one word to describe america
9:51
it was messages have you not seen this video i’ve heard about it but i haven’t seen
9:57
it no okay so america is a nation that can be defined in a single word
10:03
i was going to put him
10:09
that is why i’m saying he didn’t write this tweet that’s fair no i’m now
10:16
you’re right how like who looked at this
10:21
okay we’ve talked about this on the show like endlessly you can’t blame the corporations you have to blame the uh
10:28
conditions of supply and demand that have been created by government policies here in the u.s and really throughout
10:33
the western the western governments they have decided that they were going to get all their fossil fuels from other
10:40
countries that were outside of the first world because then they could claim that they were being environmentally friendly
10:46
all that meant is that there would just never have to be any kind of unrest at all and that every single one of those
10:52
countries had to be under the heel of those western the western countries including the us
10:59
that didn’t happen and now because of just a handful of issues in countries like russia and venezuela and a couple
11:06
other countries now the the supply is greatly restricted uh and impacted uh that’s coupled with things
11:13
like the refinery uh being at full capacity the us refining ability being at full capacity because they aren’t
11:19
allowed to build new uh facilities uh and because the cost of uh the raw materials thanks to the war on trade
11:25
that democrats and republicans have done have driven up the cost of that like there are all these different policies and we’ve talked about in the ad nauseam
11:32
on this show have led to the price of fuel and the price and the availability of fuel uh being such a problem
11:40
and so joe biden’s team says the gas stations who are often selling
11:48
fuel at a loss so actually let’s go let’s go into that
11:53
because we have graphics um the gas station
11:58
so most gas stations in this country
12:06
are owned by an individual operator 57 of people who own gas stations
12:11
own one station they own one singular station
12:18
so that means that they are purchasing this gas on an open market they aren’t going
12:24
through you know they’re not going through um uh exxonmobil or you know through bp or
12:30
whatever um they’re they are purchasing it on the open market which cuts down on uh which
12:38
cuts down on their profit immensely because they don’t have like their wholesaler that’s going to give it to them on the cheap
12:44
so and your average tank of gas at 409 which
12:50
this was a chart from uh april 13th so you can see how well we’ve done um
12:56
as of april 13th of 2022 when the average gas was 409 209 was cr was crude
13:03
oil which as it says here the stuff that comes out of the ground 70 cents went to the refinery process
13:12
70 cents is taxes federal state fees whatever 32 cents was
13:18
transport and 28 cents give or take this is where the give or
13:24
take is is the markup that the gas stations are doing and after you take out overhead and things like that most
13:32
gas stations are profiting somewhere between three and seven cents per gallon
13:37
which means that over the course of a day most of them make about 200 bucks on gas
13:43
alone yeah and that’s before you factor in taxes and also a lot of them if they’re
13:51
in uh more competitive market so three cents to seven cents on average um
13:56
that includes there are some where they may be the only gas station in town so they can mark it up a little bit more
14:01
and ones where there’s a lot of competition they’re offer often selling it at a loss or at you know or pretty
14:08
much at parity because they’re hoping that they’re not making money from this they’re making money from what they can upsell you on on car washes on on the
14:16
food that’s inside so yeah on soda on on whatever or getting
14:22
you to sign up for one of their credit cards and and save a discount oh by the way if you uh sign up for one of their
14:27
cards and you’re getting a discount do the math if they give you a five percent or ten cent discount they are definitely
14:32
selling it at a loss because they want you to be a you know have your loyalty as a customer and get you to buy more
14:38
stuff in the store that’s the whole purpose of it the fact that joe biden his team the fact that the the the the
14:46
people running this country put out a tweet
14:51
blaming the gas stations and then and then
14:57
so there’s there’s the economic illiteracy of it there’s the authoritarian the authoritarianism of it
15:03
you better do this bring down the price right now uh and and and charge what you’re what you’re paying they’re just
15:09
they about r yeah charging what they’re paying and then ending it on in do it now which not only is very authoritarian
15:19
it’s an empty threat and everyone knows it it’s joe biden again saying you better
15:24
do what i say and everyone’s shrugging and going no no
15:30
and then nothing happens right and it just it’s hard to look like
15:37
both economically illiterate and authoritarian and weak
15:44
and powerless at the same time yep i got no other ideas so you better do this no
15:49
okay then i got no other ideas so the slacking
15:55
that the democrats are about to get is in the midst of things like roe v wade
16:02
being overturned which should be a slam dunk for them and and they’re going to get completely
16:09
manhandled in november because of because people care way more
16:16
about the average person cares way more about like i can’t afford to do anything
16:21
so and that’s his response it’s incredible and what this tweet is actually doing is uh
16:28
it’s it’s not go it’s not going after major oil it’s going after that 57 it’s going
16:34
after that 57 because what the american petroleum institute is
16:40
saying is that roughly 67 two-thirds of drivers they choose their
16:45
gas based on price they’re gonna find the lowest price i know that uh the wawa down the street’s
16:50
gonna be the lowest price uh 7-eleven that’s a little bit closer sometimes like compete but and if i really need
16:57
gas i’ll go there but i can only assume that the other 33 is convenience you know you don’t have something around
17:03
whatever yep yep so if roughly uh 57 of gas stations are owned by one
17:11
person all right so roughly 20.5 of gas stations are people who own 500
17:19
or more and those are going to be your big your big corporations those are going to
17:24
be your big conglomerates so those people can risk lowering their gas
17:32
by one cent two cents three cents whatever because they’re going to be collecting it from a lot of different areas
17:37
the people he’s hurting here the people that he’s really going to injure by making and you’re right it’s an empty
17:44
threat but if it were to somehow come to fruition he is suggesting
17:50
that the people who own the one gas station the 57 they’re the people who don’t deserve to
17:55
stay open because they can’t afford to do that they can’t afford to do that so he’s
18:01
demanding that entrepreneurs people who are trying to make better lives for themselves are going to give up their
18:06
livelihood in order to appease his base when everybody knows
18:12
that the gas stations the one cents two cents three cents seven cents whatever it is
18:18
like that is necessary for them to continue their survival and he is saying no you need to do this and give i don’t
18:24
care about your livelihood i need to look good in the face of everybody else that’s literally what he’s doing that is
18:30
literally what we need to do well in the midterms so you have to just your company has to die because like you said
18:37
the if a fifth of the uh of the owners who you know own the you know own these
18:42
you know bulk of these um of these uh stores they can take the hit on the chin although i don’t see why they need to
18:49
like that that’s the other thing like it’s not like the the people who own these quick trip uh and buckies and wawa
18:57
and sheets and all these other major chains it’s not like they have a vested interest in joe biden getting re-elected
19:03
or the democrats doing well in congress i mean yeah they could leverage it potentially on some things i could see
19:09
how like how amazon and walmart have done to like leverage the pushes for higher minimum wages to kill their lower
19:16
their smaller competition but this is a case where the margins are already so tight to begin with they can’t afford to
19:22
do it right like they they can’t afford to take a the kind of reduction in price
19:27
that would be required to help joe biden’s polling numbers is oh yeah would destroy their profits as well so yeah
19:33
like bucky’s had that kid uh god i don’t i think it was in alabama it was in alabama or arkansas uh they had a case
19:40
that went to the state supreme court and it was i remember it was bucky’s and
19:45
i’m pretty certain which one’s it was arkansas because that’s the one right next to texas um
19:52
right yes yeah so it’s in arkansas yes um but bucky’s opened when bucky’s
19:57
opened up they were selling gas at less than what they bought paid for it
20:03
they were selling it for way under because the the goal was to get people in and get them into the
20:08
stores because that’s where you’re going to make all your profit so yeah your buckies and your wawas and
20:14
your whatever that supreme court case by the way said that you cannot sell gas at
20:19
that low of a price you have to charge at least what you paid for it oh the epa decision they just did no no the it was
20:25
it was an arkansas supreme court case and oh the arkansas yeah okay yeah so
20:30
that’s what they say is the usual so they don’t allow price dumping they don’t work for gas no not in our country okay so then no one can do this well so
20:37
even if they wanted to they can’t i mean they can lower it the seven cents is what he’s saying and like yeah that’s where your wawa’s and your buckies and
20:44
your sheets if you live in the northeast they could do that but your locally
20:49
owned gas station that is owned by you know somebody that you see out in the neighborhood who lives three houses down
20:55
from you uh he can’t afford to do that so everybody like we said 67 percent of
21:00
drivers choose based on price so that means that they’re going to go to other gas
21:07
stations which is going to hurt those people even more because they’re not going to be going inside to get their sodas or to get their snacks or you know
21:13
whatever they have in there so he’s so he’s literally trying to drive himself
21:19
he’s literally trying to drive him out of business and the bigger companies they can afford to do it just a couple
21:24
of cents just to make it worth people to drive there right and it won’t be enough to make a
21:30
difference for biden anyway lowering gas prices three to six seven cents isn’t going to do a damn thing for his poll
21:36
numbers and that’s all they can do they actually can’t reduce it by that much
21:41
less than what they’re paying wow okay yeah all right well thankfully
21:46
uh joe biden has uh unveiled a very aggressive proposal for offshore oil and
21:53
gas development right right yeah uh it’s
21:59
it is a very um progressive uh five-year proposal
22:07
it’s very progressive um and very progressive while it is just a proposal and they’re looking for
22:13
they’re looking for it to be completed soon or an agreement to be made on it soon they say that the
22:19
final plan will have anywhere from 11
22:25
to zero lease sales all the way to zero
22:31
11 in the cap all the way to zero lease sales
22:37
and then they uh went on and they said that there will be between two auctions
22:42
a year or none at all i like the way that they’re phrasing this there’s gonna be between two or none or there’s going
22:49
to be anywhere from 11 to zero and if you don’t you can look you can
22:56
google the plan that’s how it’s worded i’m going to look this up what you’re
23:01
talking about yeah this is funny so this is like a weird bizarre attempt because he’s trying to appease the green energy
23:08
base that you know the the green new deal uh progressive base of the democrat
23:13
party as well as he wants to appease the oil and gas um lobbyists and people who
23:20
drive cars uh because rising fuel prices so he’s like look i’m doing something
23:26
what i’m not doing and that likes to try to balance
23:32
pleasing both of these sides this is not going to do anything because he’s not promising that he’s going to
23:37
give out any lease sales so no oil company is going to actually go in and try to bid on these things but then he
23:43
will be able to turn her he’s going to turn around and say well i said that they have these two
23:48
two auctions a year or none at all but nobody wanted to auction on them what he’s doing is trying to do a balancing
23:55
act to make both happy and he can’t do it it’s not something that’s going to be possible and to your point i’m i’m
24:02
reading two different releases one is from the environmental groups and democrat groups who are angry that he’s
24:07
talking about having any built and then others from energy groups saying uh this
24:13
isn’t anywhere near what we need to deal with future increases in demand for energy um so he literally came up
24:20
with a plan that pisses this is every everyone yeah he tried to do a balancing act where
24:26
both sides were going to be happy and he ended up making everybody angry they’re both angry they’re both very yeah i’m
24:32
reading these right now yeah they’re both very angry they’re both and it’s not going to hurt me angry on either
24:38
side no no they’re both they’re both angry wow because people
24:43
because he he has broken his promise to not allow any new offshore drilling so that’s that’s one thing um and he’s not
24:51
even beginning to deal with the uh expected increases in in uh um in demand for uh
24:59
fuel over the next five years so he literally pissed everyone out he should have just either said listen
25:05
we’re not doing anything new i said i was gonna not do anything new or said listen we’re gonna go based on
25:11
what’s needed you know we’re gonna allow as many leases as possible at least one side would say finally at least one side
25:17
would be happy yeah and the way it is with gas prices being what they are inflation at 8.6
25:23
uh inflation being at 8.6 percent uh wages being down um yeah best economy
25:29
ever i know can i get it uh he can say that all he wants but people are stuck in a position where
25:34
they can’t afford to upgrade things in their life they can’t afford to upgrade cars to get evs and you know that’s
25:40
still requires fossil fuels but you know they can’t afford to make those switches
25:46
in their life because they’re spending so much money on milk on eggs on gas on bread on exactly their rents are going
25:53
up they’re more uh they’re the credit card fees are going up because of the new interest rate hikes
25:58
from the fed they can’t afford to upgrade anything to a more greener lifestyle but he’s
26:04
trying to force everybody that way it’s it is the most bizarre balancing out it’s insane it is insane it is
26:11
jimmy carter who’s still alive i think um i haven’t checked the news today okay
26:17
um jimmy carter said i will not rest until there’s a president that was worse than i was and he’ll soon be able to pass
26:23
away peacefully yeah he’s gonna he’s gonna be able to pass away today um but yeah like jimmy
26:31
jimmy carter is going oh i think i’m going to be remembered as a peanut farmer and a guy who helped build
26:38
homes for homeless people and nobody’s going to talk about my energy
26:43
not the worst president ever um that not even the worst president on on gas prices it’s incredible how this
26:50
has has happened it’s you know and this really if you think about it this is the biden administration trying to exercise
26:57
in grappling with the problems with this you know with with energy prices and really suffering a bad injury as a
27:05
result speaking of which a los angeles cop died in may and his
27:11
family is saying that is due to the fault of the lapd get right buckle up buddy oh have you heard this i
27:18
not really no oh you’re gonna like this i looked enough to try to get a segway
27:24
so officer houston tipping which honestly look that name
27:31
the van’s dead okay no that name i’m not gonna lie
27:36
it’s kind of badass like i like the name houston tipping like that sounds like a
27:41
character his middle name is cow his middle name is cow yeah uh 32 years old died after suffering a
27:49
spinal cord injury while he was training with officers last month uh police described tipping’s injury and
27:57
death as a result of a tragic accident that occurred while tipping was in a grappling exercise with another officer
28:03
when they say a grappling exercise with another officer this is what was really happening
28:10
they were doing riot training and tipping was acting as a rioter
28:20
lapd police chief michael moore not the same one
28:25
said tipping did not sustain any type of laceration to his head and was not struck or beaten during this training
28:32
session okay sure as spike says in uh gastonia release the
28:38
tape yeah let’s see let’s see that tape bradley gage the attorney for tipping’s
28:44
mom shirley huffman said tipping suffered multiple terrible injuries over his body
28:50
he states that it has to be a beating uh gage has filed a governmental claim on
28:57
behalf of huffman that states tipping is not the first to be effectively murdered
29:02
during training the family says they hope the lawsuit
29:08
will bring an end to the training exercise deaths gage said tipping’s family does not believe the official
29:13
story that his death was a freak accident during training his injuries they say were too severe one part of his
29:19
head required staples he became a quadriplegic he was unable
29:25
to breathe on his own and his heart stopped so basically the lapd
29:30
trains how they play in the streets yeah yeah they train how they work yeah
29:35
he was acting he was pretending to be a rioter in a police training
29:42
and he got beat to death by another cop is what happened as part of his as part
29:48
of the as per yeah as the other cops training that tracks i’ve seen i saw a video of lapd uh cops dispersing what
29:56
they called a riot frankly it was it was a protest it was an angry protest but it was a protest no
30:02
no damage was happening they weren’t even on the road they were just angrily shouting with the signs and refusing to
30:09
disperse and the cops started shooting them in the head and neck and upper
30:14
chest with those beanbag guns which you aren’t even supposed to shoot directly at him you’re supposed to shoot at the
30:20
ground and let it ricochet and hit them in the knees uh and instead they’re just popping them directly in the head and
30:26
the and like the head like this general area the head the the neck and the chest uh at like
30:33
a few feet away i mean easily could kill someone that way and they went and killed made this guy a
30:38
quadriplegic and killed him yeah yeah yeah release the tape let’s see release the tape let’s see how you train
30:45
people to deal with riots la cops to deal with if you’re saying there’s no lacerations to the head
30:51
during the training show it prove it prove uh prove what everybody believes
30:57
to be true they did so they did say uh they did say that there were like rib fractures and
31:03
lung punctures and stuff like that uh and the the lawyer gage uh said that
31:09
those could have come he’d conceded that those could have come from uh them trying to revive him
31:15
whilst all of this was happening and that’s a possibility yes that that could be that’s that’s a possibility cpr yeah
31:21
but the head had to get there how do you get to needing cpr right
31:27
so yeah wow yep no that tracks wait till they
31:33
discover qualified immunity so uh
31:38
doctor speaking of interesting names dr alex
31:44
steinschler has some interesting news for us matt
31:49
yeah dr alex dean schlager
31:55
sheesh dean schleijer i had to look that up so many different ways in order to find it
32:02
uh is the direct that’s interesting is the director of urology at new york urology specialist in midtown manhattan
32:09
and he states that calls about vasectomy procedures
32:14
have skyrocketed more than 500 percent since scotus overturned
32:20
roe v wade in manhattan you’ve already gotten to the joke yep in manhattan
32:26
and the irony is that new york’s laws on abortion won’t change like at all
32:34
at all so what they are do what the men in new york are doing is literally
32:40
helping stop abortion in midtown manhattan by getting problem solved
32:47
they’re thinking ahead they’re thinking of all the tourists that come in and they impregnate them and then they go
32:52
back home they go back home to their louisiana’s and their oklahoma’s mississippi’s
32:58
[Music] because you know all the red staters that are going to new york
33:04
going to new york city for those one-night stands so breaking news a lot of people in
33:11
midtown manhattan don’t understand how things work
33:17
including apparently their bodies this is a i
33:25
in no way did that decision affect like abortion is every bit as legal
33:32
in all of new york state as as it was before two weeks ago yeah
33:39
but they hey good so good news whether you’re pro-choice or pro-life
33:45
men are stepping up yeah men are doing well and they’re they’re doing what they’re doing the thing they’re doing
33:51
the things they’re they are ensuring that they will not get somebody pregnant um so that an abortion
33:58
and they won’t spread their genes even accidentally right which is good based on this is
34:05
self-selection so this is darwin is having a final laugh here because these are people that are so smart that they
34:12
don’t know what just happened how it doesn’t affect them at all
34:18
but thankfully we don’t have to worry about future generations being equally stupid
34:23
that’s like the three that’s like the people in la that were like protesting and like probably one of the ones but
34:29
the guy had the flamethrower and he was firing at a cop outside of a pregnancy center and i was like guys you’re in la
34:36
like the laws are the same yeah and that was exactly
34:42
what tipping houston tipping was training for i mean i kind of get it so the those are
34:49
